73 and sunny beautiful day! A round of bad golf broke out today… scorecard enclosed…

The course plays flat. It’s short and walkable, I walked the course. Played 18 in 3 1/2 hours. It’s 3751 yards from the back tee’s. The tee boxes, fairways, and rough were a bit dry and dusty on this day. I think I can still smell the air…. The greens were rock hard and pretty fast. I must have been hungover cuz I finally figured out I had to play the approach shots on the second 9. the trick was to hit 10 yards short and run the ball up on the green, I just didn’t execute it…

The course is compact and nicely laid out as a small community golf course. It felt a little old school as we winded through the classic 60’s charm homes and back patios we hit into…. When I say we, I mean my wife… she actually hit the ball pretty good today and hit a green on a par 4, hole 14 for a 3-putt par…

In addition to the short but challenging layout, the course is also known for its stunning views of the surrounding mountains and desert landscape. The intense sunshine, fresh air and cold beer added to a fun round. There were a few holes with water that came into play, holes 6, 7, and 16. I believe everyone from our group got wet as I saw the telescoping ball retriever come out a couple times.. As I said earlier, a beautiful day broke into a terrible round of golf.

The clubhouse at Dorado Golf Course offers a variety of amenities for all players, including a fully-stocked pro shop and bar that offers a variety of beer and wine to enjoy after a round of golf. We thoroughly enjoyed the guys in the clubhouse, one chap was a member and gave us lots of advice about the city and other golf courses and offered us golf balls that he finds in his yard. Since I didn’t pack a lot of golf balls I took him up on it. The catch was he had them at home… Just so happened he lived on Del Lago Golf Course and he would leave them there at the clubhouse a couple days later for me.

When we arrived at The Del Lago golf course in Vail Arizona, just south of Tucson. He gave me about 2 dozen nice golf balls. Yes, even a few Titleist! You’ll want to read my next blog about Del Lago Golf Course, it was one of my favorites. Anyway,  the pro-shop at Dorado was fun and we enjoyed hanging out after our round for a couple beers.  Oh yeah the talkative guy, Lance Ryberg (great guy – see picture below) is a barber so I made sure to pay him a visit for a haircut while in Tucson. We also ran into him at the Cologuard Classic on the PGA Tour Champions tour at the Catalina Course of Omni Tucson National, in Tucson, Arizona. This is where I met John Daly, and that story my friends is coming in yet another blog.

So with all that, the Dorado Golf Course is a must-play for any golfer visiting Tucson. Why? because it inexpensive and you should shoot a pretty good score. (Even though I didn’t….) With its challenging layout, stunning views, and top-notch club house, the course offers a truly memorable golf experience for all player levels. So grab your clubs, book a tee time, and get ready for a round of golf you won’t soon forget.
